In 2013, I developed a prototype audio player for streaming spatial music. Based on WebAudio’s capabilities for binaural audio, the player distributes up to 12 sound sources and allows the listener to move their virtual avatar between them, approximating the experience of a sound installation in an online environment. Two compositions have been adapted to virtual listening spaces so far.
Follow the links below to the respective pages of the works. The spatial effect is perceivable only when listening in headphones. Since the player relies on streaming four stereo audio files at the same time (and in case of Ulenflucht, in lossless flac format), depending on the internet connection, it might need some time to pre-buffer.
